Faster Scaling Algorithms for Network Problems

چکیده
This paper presents algorithms for the assignment problem, the transportation problem and the minimum cost flow problem of operations research. The algorithms find a minimum cost solution, but rtm in time close to the best-known bounds for the corresponding problems without costs. For example, the assignment problem (equivalently, minimum cost matching on a bipartite graph) can be solved in O(,/Vim log(nN)) time, where n, m and N denote the number of vertices, number of edges and largest magnitude of a cost; costs are assumed to be integral. The algorithms work by scaling. As in the work of Goldberg and Tazja [Go, GoT87a-b],in each scaled problem an approximate optimum solution is found, rather than an exact optimum.

متن کاملAn Efficient Extension of Network Simplex Algorithm
In this paper, an efficient extension of network simplex algorithm is presented. In static scheduling problem, where there is no change in situation, the challenge is that the large problems can be solved in a short time. In this paper, the Static Scheduling problem of Automated Guided Vehicles in container terminal is solved by Network Simplex Algorithm (NSA) and NSA+, which extended the stand...
متن کاملA New Class of Incremental Gradient Methods1 for Least Squares Problems
The LMS method for linear least squares problems differs from the steepest descent method in that it processes data blocks one-by-one, with intermediate adjustment of the parameter vector under optimization. This mode of operation often leads to faster convergence when far from the eventual limit, and to slower (sublinear) convergence when close to the optimal solution. We embed both LMS and st...

متن کاملDALD:-Distributed-Asynchronous-Local-Decontamination Algorithm in Arbitrary Graphs
Network environments always can be invaded by intruder agents. In networks where nodes are performing some computations, intruder agents might contaminate some nodes. Therefore, problem of decontaminating a network infected by intruder agents is one of the major problems in these networks. In this paper, we present a distributed asynchronous local algorithm for decontaminating a network. In mos...
